It all began just over 40 years ago in a Florentine gelateria, with a young, ambitious man and a cherished traditional recipe. Chris Pahitas, after being allowed in on the secret how-tos of artisanal Italian gelato, returned to Cyprus, rolled up his sleeves and went straight to work. A few years later, in 1981, he had perfected the traditional recipe for large-scale production and Pahit Ice ice-cream became available to the public for the very first time. The islanders embraced this newly arrived delicacy, relishing the fine, consistent flavour and quality that made the ice-cream stand out.
With the early 1990s came the delightful launch of Pahit Ice’s Fruity Yogurt, which offered a lighter, deliciously refreshing alternative to the traditional gelato. This gave Cypriot ice-cream lovers the chance to create their own blends of exotic fruits and fro-yo that was guaranteed to hit the spot every time.
By 2005, a second generation of family members began working full-time for the brand, which lead to greater modernization of the practices used, but with the same, unchanged devotion to delivering the desserts’ renowned quality every time.
